The Labor Boys (1899)

(Air, the Minstrel Boy.)

The following are selections from the topical songs sang at Mr Hoolan's
successful entertainment in the Centennial Hall, on Thursday night:--

The Labor Boys to the rows have gone,
Where the talk is thick you will find them ;
Their Hansards they have girded on,
And the platform is slung behind them.

"Land of gold," said the Labor Boy
To the white man nature gave thee ;
Through storm and shine and in grief and joy,
I am the only man can save thee ;

Then we wish success to the Labor Boys
In the rush for the honor and glory,
The creak of the "planks" create a noise,
And the tongues tell the same old story ;

They'll all come back to the seats again,
And fetch back the same old notions,
And as Daniells says they'll "inject" with pain,
And be moved by the same old motions.
