My Life on You, Old Boy (1899)

Melody-- "Our Jack's Come Home To-day."

Twenty-six years I've braved the storms
Upon Tasmania's shore,
Drove to and fro in every part
On which the billows roar.
For years I've drove the mountain bays

Prince, Jonas, and Rob Roy--,
To the latter, say, in distress
My life on you, old boy,
Chorus--My life on you, old boy,
My life on you, old boy ;
With thee I row, meet friend and foe,
My life on you, old boy.

Homeward bound on a stormy night,
The river raging high,
The rain not ceased, in torrents fell,
Darkness has hid the sky.
No one to signal to for help,
It's me and you, Rob Roy,
To brave the storm, I cling to thee--
My life on you, old boy.

Faithful with thee, I brave the storm,
Yet fierce the winds they blow ;
And trouble meets us everywhere,
On journeys to and fro.
Through hardship's struggle day by day,
Through life we know no joy,
While in distress, I cling to thee
My life on you, old boy.

Some scores of men meet on the way,
Who of their horses boast,
To do a journey with a load,
Break records of the coast.
At loads and records I will test
My famous horse, Rob Roy,
Through obstacles will plunge and dash--
My life on you, old boy.

C. F. G. KRINGLE,
Corinna, West Coast.
