On the Road to Jamberoo (1921) Upon the road to Jamberoo
With palm trees rustling in the breeze,
No one could find a better way
Put a tired heart at ease: The cool sharp air just after rain,
The fragrant flowers, the dripping trees
The brown road winding out ahead,
To yonder mountain's mysteries. The peaceful slopes on every side,
All tinged with emerald green ;
The sea it's dancing sunlit waves,
All tipped with silver sheen. A little village thro' the hills
All shining with the morning dew ;
With creepers twined about its eaves,
This is the town of Jamberoo. Upon the road to Jamberoo,
With palm trees rustling in the breeze,
No one could find a better way
To put a tired heart at ease. --By RUFUS BLOWFLY. Notes From the NSW Newspaper The Kiama Independent, and Shoalhaven Advertiser 24 Sep 1921 p. 5.
