The Coal Miner (1950) He's what they call a miner,
In other words a mug ;
The guy with pick and shovel,
Wherever coal is dug. A lifetime filled with hazards;
Away from light of day ;
His job isn't easy,
No matter what they say. It's not all beer and skittles,
Though at times much work is lost ;
But there's two sides to every question,
Between the miner and his boss. Who now offers co-operation,
What does he mean by that ?
And seeding us his magazine,
Yet charging, not a "zac." Will every man read it.
Compare it with our own ;
Peruse its pages monthly,
Then pass it on to those at home ? --C.Nelson (Weston) Notes From the NSW Newspaper The Cessnock Eagle and South Maitland Recorder 14 Apr 1950 p. 12.
