Howls All Round (1882)

(DEDICATED TO THE ILUSTRIOUS FIVE.)

First pledge our chief this festive night,
Then drink to Ireland, every guest,
To all who love a roaring light,
And trot their native bogs the best
Let the green shamrock ever live,
Worn in our hats on Patrick's Day,
Three roars for Ireland's symbol give,
And hurl the blood stained rose away.

Howls all round,
God the Saxon's hope confound;

To the great cause of Ireland, drink my boys,
And the great name of Parnell round and round.

Pledge Irishmen ye bold M.P.
True Leaguers of the Land's desire,
Confound the landlords ; may they be
Bowled out of borough and of shire,
We bawl as loud as we can bawl,
Old Ireland's old St Patrick's gift,
Seize on your bogs, brave celtics all
And turn the Saxon thief adrift.

Howls all Round,
God the Saxon's hope confound,
To the great cause of Ireland, drink my boys,
And the great name of Parnell round and round.
