Business Verse (1949)

A suburban hotel conserves its supply of glasses with this bar verse:--

Black is ithe raven; black is the rook;
Black is old Hitler, world's greatest crook;
But blacker the sinner, he's worse than the louse,
Who pinches the glasses from this public house

The same publican also has this sign designed to conserve his cash:
"Credit given only to pensioners over 70 years of age, and then if accompanied; by their parents."
