Eight-Hour Day--1915

With eight hours' work, and eight hours' rest,
And eight hours' recreation,
Australian workers hope to build
A free and happy nation.

So keep our banners waving high
And stand united ever,
And forge ahead for human good,
By fearless, firm endeavour.

By industry and honest work,
Be high or low your station,
Keep working for the common weal
And build a mighty nation.

Come ! toast toast the men who led the van;
Those veterans old and grey,
Who fought our battles years ago
And gained the Eight-Hour Day !

--"BANNERMAN."
